FACE OF MICRO ENTERPRISES (FAME 2021)

FACTS

Micro Enterprises play a big role in the Nigerian economy and economies around the globe. According to research, Micro enterprises out number large companies by a wide margin and also employ many more people. They are important for economic and social reasons, given the sector’s role in employment.

Micro Enterprises are also said to be responsible for driving innovation and competition in many economic sectors. In Nigeria, most micro businesses are often owned and managed by sole operators.

Most economies, particularly those of developing countries like Nigeria, march on the shoulders of micro enterprises. This is because they are characterized by dynamism, innovations, efficiency, and their small size allows for a faster decision-making process.

The benefits of Micro Enterprises to any economy are easily apparent, they include:

• Contribution to the economy in terms of output of goods and services;
• Creation of jobs at relatively low capital cost, especially in the fast-growing service sector;
• Provide a vehicle for reducing income disparities;
• Develop a pool of skilled and semi-skilled workers as a basis for future industrial expansion;
• Improve forward and backward linkages between economically, socially and geographically diverse sectors of the economy;
• Provide opportunities for developing and adapting appropriate technological approaches;
• Offer an excellent breeding ground for entrepreneurial and managerial talent, the critical shortage of which is often a great handicap to economic development, among others.

Micro Enterprises are believed to be the engine room for the development of any economy because they form the bulk of business activities in a growing economy like that of Nigeria.

As Nigeria emerges as one of the brightest economic spots in the World and No. 1 in Africa, it should focus on ways to make help micro enterprise, the most powerful driver of its growth survive, succeed and soar.

WHY FAME 2021

ABOUT FAME PAGEANT

This is a beauty contest designed to further propagate the relevance of micro enterprises in building the economy.

Research has shown that people are naturally drawn to attractive people. Therefore, we will leverage on this to achieve the following: 
Attract Investors: one of the things we hope to achieve is to attract investors that will be willing to invest in micro enterprises and they will see it as an obligation towards nation building.

Encourage youth to be creative and start thinking of how to identify a need in their environment and proffer a solution. This will create more job opportunities.

It will encourage and educate millions of youth about everything they need to know about micro enterprise and the opportunities abound.

 It will also encourage start up.

We will use the office FAME to support between 100-200 start ups yearly.

Creating a healthy competition amongst the youth.

WINNERS : 

 The winner wins cash prizes of N250, 000

2nd - 5th position wins N100, 000 each 

There will be further engagement with all the top 5  for 12 months with monthly allowances.

THE PROCESS

     We have designed a thorough strategy from the first stage to the grand finale. The 20 finalist will attend a 5 day workshop on MICRO ENTERPRISE amongst several trainings.

     They will be invited to market360plug business fair where they get to present in the first two days of the event.  

  The winner will make her first speech and shares some of her proposed projects and how she would want to partner with everyone to achieve this.  

She will also formally invite people to the launching of FACE OF MICRO ENTERPRISES PROJECT LAUNCH. 

FAME WINNER JOB DESCRIPTIONS: FROM THE “OFFCIE OF FAME”

·       Liaise with the government on how to increase support for micro enterprise.

·       Attend scheduled meeting with top government officials on behalf of micro enterprises.

·       Attract corporate sponsors for micro enterprises.

·       Partner with organizations that have unit for micro enterprise.

·       Attend international conference on micro enterprise

·       Liaise with banks to make access to loans easier for micro enterprises.

·       Create a team that will always make opportunities known to the public down to the grassroots.
